2024 - 2026 Midterm Strategic Plan

The 2024 - 2026 Midterm Strategic Plan is meant as a guiding document for the remainder of this Council’s term. Administration will be bringing forward regular updates on the progress of the various projects and initiatives identified under each focus area.

Economic Development & Tourism Strategy

The Economic Development & Tourism Strategy will remain on course to sustainable economic prosperity by providing recommendations through stakeholder consultation. It also identifies several actions that must be implemented by the Town to achieve its goals.

2021 Environmental Stewardship Strategy

The Town of Blackfalds Environmental Stewardship Strategy (ESS) is a comprehensive strategy to identify how the Town will manage the full extent of its environmental impacts. It highlights existing and proposed policy and bylaw direction, standards improvement, community education and awareness programs, and plans.


2023 Annual Report to the Community

The Annual Report to the Community gives a quick synopsis of various projects and activities completed in the preceding year highlighting both achievements and challenges. The report includes how Council and Administration continuously work to advance strategic priorities and includes information about the costs of service delivery, municipal finances, and infrastructure programs.

2020 Municipal Sustainability Plan

The 2020 Municipal Sustainability Plan (MSP) is an overarching long-term strategic plan that captures the citizen's vision of the future of our community by the year 2040.

Civic Facilities Development Strategy & Master Plan

The Civic Facilities Development Strategy & Master Plan provides a ten-year action plan for the Town to follow as it relates to current and future civic facilities in Blackfalds. The plan examines the current state of existing facilities, expected population growth, potential partnership opportunities, and other factors including forthcoming changes to the Municipal Government Act.

2018 Census Report

The census provides valuable information about the Town of Blackfalds as a whole. This information is used to assist the community with:

  • economic development initiatives
  • educational requirements
  • planning and development for immediate and long term trends
  • municipal infrastructure requirements
  • government grants and other initiatives that are based on population

2016 Social Needs Assessment & Master Plan

The Town of Blackfalds initiated the development of a Social Needs Assessment Master Plan to provide a point of reference upon which decisions and priorities related to preventative social services can be made by the municipality over the next five years. The Plan is intended to serve as a guiding document for Council, the FCSS Board, and Administration and will provide direction on initiatives and strategies to address social needs in Blackfalds.

Recreation, Culture and Parks Needs Assessment & Master Plan

This long-term planning document was created with extensive community input and guides future development and decision-making.
