The Infrastructure & Property Services and Economic Development Departments are located on the Lower Level of the Civic Centre and offer services such as development and building permits, letters of compliance, assistance with the processes for subdivision review, re-designation of land, and other business, planning and environmental services are offered.
Take the Urban Hen Survey
The Town of Blackfalds Council has requested that a survey be conducted to determine the interest in an Urban Hen program after a resident requested Council's consideration to allow urban hens. There has been an increasing popularity for people wanting to raise hens in an urban environment in many communities, including those within our region.
Implementation of an Urban Hen Program could be introduced and take place through the development and approval of a bylaw, either as a stand-alone bylaw or incorporation into an amended Animal Control Bylaw. The Urban Hen Program could also be introduced as a pilot for a defined period of time to determine the viability and potential success if the program was implemented over the long term.
The survey will only take a couple of minutes to complete and ends on August 30, 2019.
