UPDATED March 23, 2020: In following the Province of Alberta’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Town of Blackfalds facilities are closed as of 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2020 until the tentative date of May 15, 2020.
As per Bylaw 1181/14, all residents owning a cat or dog that is 3 months of age or older are required to license their pet on an annual basis.
Animal licenses can be purchased in person at the Town Office and you will be provided with an annual metal license tag at the time of purchase.
Those who purchase or renew their licenses between January 1 – 31 will receive $30 off!
$30 for an unaltered male or female $15 for a spayed or neutered animal
Between February 1 and December 31 the fees are:
$60 for an unaltered male or female $45 for a spayed or neutered animal
If an animal license tag is lost and a replacement tag is required, there is a $6 replacement fee.
The Town of Blackfalds establishes a maximum of 3 dogs or 3 cats for a total of 5 animals per household. Anything over 5 pets requires a Kennel License under the Land Use Bylaw 1198/16. The $85 annual fee for a Kennel License is in addition to the fees for individual pet licenses.
