Town of Blackfalds welcomes new Emergency Management & Protective Services Manager

Ken Morrison has been appointed to the newly created position of Emergency Management & Protective Services Manager. Morrison’s new role commenced on February 5th and includes responsibility and oversight for Blackfalds Enforcement Services, which includes the Blackfalds Peace Officer program and RCMP Administration, Protective Services including Blackfalds Fire Service, Blackfalds Emergency Management program, and the Community’s Occupational Health and Safety program.
Chief Administrative Officer Myron Thompson explained that the position was created in order to centralize the responsibilities of managing Emergency and Protective Services for the Town.
“This level of management and oversight for these critical functional areas was needed in our organizational structure and will result in increased efficiencies and focus on these very important areas of operation”.
Thompson also said Morrison was the best fit due to his many years of experience as well as his knowledge in the community and working relationships with those currently in these service areas.
Morrison retired from the Blackfalds RCMP earlier this year and is putting his experience to use in his new position.
“I am looking forward to working with Blackfalds Fire Department, Community Peace Officers, the County, the Town and the RCMP. These very experienced and dedicated professionals work together daily to ensure the town of Blackfalds is safe and prepared in the event of an emergency.”
The Town of Blackfalds welcomes Morrison in this new position and is looking forward to working with him.
