Town of Blackfalds Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

posted on Jan 25 2021

Blackfalds, Alberta (January 25, 2021) – On January 24, 2021, the Town of Blackfalds learned that a Town employee at the Civic Cultural Centre tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member had no personal contact with the public as Town facilities have been closed since the latest Provincial mandate issued in December. Our thoughts are with our team member and we hope for a speedy recovery.

Staff members who were in close contact with this employee are currently undergoing testing and have immediately started their 14-day isolation, as per provincial and AHS guidelines. The employee’s department’s area will be fully sanitized before staff re-enter the building.

Procedures are in place to ensure business stability for the duration of the quarantine period and residents can be assured that there will be no disruption in service as some staff transition from work to working-from-home. Services, including permits and application forms, may still be provided via phone or email while our facility remains closed and staff are isolated.

As numbers remain high within Lacombe County and in Alberta, everyone’s health and safety is a high priority. We encourage residents to continue safe health practices, limit interactions with others, and continue to practice clean hygiene.

Please note that there is a current provincial and local mandate of face coverings in all public spaces; this extends to all employees who are also directed to practice guidelines including social distance, work from home if possible, wear face coverings when outside of their own office spaces, take separate scheduled breaks, and conduct meetings virtually.

There is currently no information about how many active cases are in Blackfalds and we continue to remain under Lacombe County’s jurisdiction.

As per FOIP and the privacy of our Town staff, no further information is available at this time.
