Throwback Thursday - What's in a Name?

posted on Aug 17 2017

The community of Blackfalds was first known as "Waghorn" - named after the first postmaster who homesteaded near here in 1891. By 1902, a CPR train engineer who was originally from Scotland named the town site "Blackfalds", after where he was born in Blackfaulds, Scotland (pictured), as the landscape reminded him of home. The village was officially incorporated on June 17, 1904.
