posted on Jun 22 2017

Get ready for the kids event of the summer - the first ever triathlon held at the Abbey Centre in Blackfalds - July 8, 2017!

Sanctioned by the Alberta Triathlon Association (ATA), the Super Kids Triathlon will be a fun and safe introduction to multi-sport for youth; taking place on the trails around the Abbey Centre and in the Jr. Olympic pool. Train as a family and reap the many health benefits, both mentally and physically, while motivating your children and building their self-confidence.

“The organizers of this inaugural event are runners, swimmers and bikers themselves and really want to help spread the fun and community that is triathlon.” says Carol Simpson, Guest Services Officer and event organizer. “We want to provide a safe, comfortable environment to empower kids to explore what it is like to swim, bike and run!”

The race will have two age categories:

  • Avengers: 5 - 7 years 25 m swim - 1 km bike - 500 m run [$15 registration fee] May have one person assist during event (personal flotation device acceptable)
  • Justice League: 8 - 12 years 50 m swim - 2 km bike - 1 km run [$20 registration fee]

Requirements for registration include an approved bike helmet and current ATA membership. All registrants will receive a finisher’s medal, water bottle, swim cap, day pass to the Abbey Centre and a post-race meal.
