Council proclaims May 1-7 as National Youth Week in Blackfalds

posted on May 1 2019

Blackfalds, Alberta (May 1, 2019) – Council proclaimed May 1 – 7, 2019 as National Youth Week in Blackfalds at the April 23 Regular Council Meeting. The week will be celebrated by activities each day throughout the Town.

“As a young community, we are proud to recognize the youth of Blackfalds and provide them a full slate of activities to celebrate the vibrancy they bring to our town,” stated Mayor Richard Poole.

National Youth Week is dedicated to the celebration of youth and their active participation in their community. Whether it is recreation, drama, sport, dance, civic engagement, art, volunteerism or leadership, everyday young people are involved in meaningful activities during their discretionary time. National Youth Week is to honour their involvement.

Youth, those young people in their teenage years, are an important asset to Canadian communities. One way in which young people learn to successfully bridge the development gap between childhood and adulthood is through the activities in which they participate in their time out of school or work.

Free activities being hosted in Blackfalds during National Youth Week include:

Wednesday May 1     - Something Cool After School

Thursday May 2        - Youth Recognition Night

Friday May 3              - After the Grind Games Night
