Celebrating Public Works Week - Lily Gatensby
Please help us in thanking our Public Works Operator, Lily Gatensby for her dedication to our Town.
Lily has been with us for four years after coming from the small community of Carcross, located in the Yukon Territory (population : roughly 500 people.) The fact that she grew up in a smaller community made it difficult to find a job in her field – so she packed up her life and moved to Alberta, “looking for greener pastures,” she said.
Lily found her way to Blackfalds where she rented a home and tried working in the oilfield for a little bit but didn’t enjoy it as much as she thought she would. From there, she applied with the Town and has been with us ever since!
Lily explained that there is very little that she dislikes about her job and her favourite thing is when the team works in groups – then the conversation flows, and the team can “laugh the day away” while working on projects together.
In her spare time, Lily said that she has many interests.
“Lately, nothing gets my day off to a better start like an early morning at the Abbey Center gym. I try to spend as much time as I can with family and friends. Then a good evening walk to take in the beauty of nature, followed by some Netflix binging.”
Thank you, Lily, for all you do for the Town, this week is to celebrate you and those hard workers like you!
