Celebrating Development Officer Week - Terry Topolnitsky
As we celebrate Development Officer’s Week, we turn our focus to those on our team who are often behind the scenes. These important people are constantly focused, driven and work hard to bring the future to Blackfalds.
This next feature is on another important Planning and Development team member; Terry Topolnitsky, our Planning and Development Manager.
Terry has been with the Town of Blackfalds for 13 years! He has thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the new development come in to Town, and watching Blackfalds grow.
Terry has previous experience in Planning with the City of Edmonton, the City of St. Albert and the City of Fort Saskatchewan.
Not only does Terry work with the Town, but he is also the President of the Alberta Development Officers Association, has a great relationship with the Alberta Municipal Affairs and Alberta Municipalities. He is also on the Education Advisory Committee for the U of A Extension Applied Land Use Planning course and the Advisory Committee for the Environmental course at Olds College.
Terry said that his favourite memory of the Town is the expansion over the last few years and “working to expand the boundaries of the Town by 13 quarter sections which came into effect Jan 1, 2009.”
In his spare time, Terry shared that he likes to “recreation camp in summer and winter at the Wilderness Village Resort NW of Rocky Mountain House.”
Despite the challenging responsibility of enforcing Town bylaws, Terry has enjoyed his time with the Town and we look forward to seeing what else he will contribute to the growth of Blackfalds!
