Celebrating Development Officer Week - Billie Scott
As we celebrate Development Officer’s Week, we turn our focus to those on our team who are often behind the scenes. These important people are constantly focused and driven, and work hard to bring the future to Blackfalds.
Another essential member of our team is Billie Scott, who has been working with the Town for 10 years now.
Billie describes that while she was living in Cold Lake, she realized the need to live in a smaller town, especially with three small children. She purchased a home in Blackfalds in 2009 and has been a resident ever since.
She began her employment as a Planning Clerk in 2009 and has made her way to becoming a Development Officer I.
“I have enjoyed watching the Town grow and being part of that and meeting new people every day, I also have some pretty amazing coworkers,” said Billie when asked what she enjoys most about the work that she does.
With all the population growth, Billie recites that her favourite memory of the Town was when Maclean Magazine published an article in 2014 that mentioned the Town of Blackfalds and the fact that it was 14th in Canada for growth and 7th in Alberta.
Billie said that she is most proud of the amazing friendships she has created with her coworkers and the relationships she has with past and current customers.
Billie added that outside of work hours, "when I’m not busy with my children, I like to paint, read and hang out with my family.”
When asked what the most difficult aspect of her job is, she said “enforcing Town Bylaws.”
Thank you, Billie, for your years of dedication with the Town of Blackfalds!
