posted on Jan 18 2019

Blackfalds, Alberta (January 18, 2019) – Town Council and staff, along with representatives from Lacombe Foundation, The Bethany Group and Berry Architecture welcomed residents and stakeholders as it hosted its fourth community conversation on the proposed 55+ Housing Project on the evening of January 16th.  Updates and a recap of this project, planned for construction at Broadway Avenue and South Street on town owned property, were provided to those in attendance.

The group from Berry Architecture provided an overview of three design options that could be developed on the lands including phasing opportunities. Mike Leathwood, CEO of The Bethany Group, outlined the various financing and ownership/rental options available and provided an update on the funding application put forward to the Seniors Housing Ministry, seeking funding to support the initiative.

Residents interested in living in the new facility project are encouraged to fill out an Expression of Interest or alternatively, a Subsidized Apartment Application. By filling out these forms, individuals provide the proof that this project will be a viable, worthwhile addition to the amenities available to residents in Blackfalds and indicate to the Province that the project is viable through funding support.

All the forms and presentations are available below or at the Blackfalds FCSS Office, 5016 Waghorn Street. Or you can send them to the Lacombe Foundation at the address listed on the bottom of each form.
