At the October 24, 2017 Annual Organizational/Regular Council Meeting, Mayor Richard Poole along with Councillors Marina Appel, Jamie Hoover, Ray Olfert, Rebecca Stendie, Laura Svab and William Taylor were sworn in for the 2017-2021 term.

The swearing-in ceremony saw the new elected officials swearing an Oath of Office administered by RCMP Staff Sergeant Ken Morrison.

“This looks like a very strong council moving forward. I’m looking forward to working with everyone and I think council has every opportunity to do a wonderful job,” said Mayor Poole. “One of the first things we’ll be learning about and working on together is the municipal budget for 2018. From there, it’s a matter of continuing on with our goals outlined in the Municipal Sustainability Plan and continuing to work towards those goals over the next four years.”

During the meeting, Council made appointments of Council members to Blackfalds municipal boards and set the schedule for Council meetings for the next year.
