In Alberta, General Municipal Elections are conducted every four years, under the provisions of the Local Authorities Election Act. Municipal and School Division elections are regulated by the Town of Blackfalds Municipal Elections Bylaw 1160.13 passed under the authority of the Local Authorities Election Act.
As part of the municipal general elections, Albertans vote for their school board trustees. A general election takes place once every four years. School Boards have important information about general election procedures, forms and regulations for school authorities.
The Town of Blackfalds is currently seeking workers for the Monday, October 16, 2017, general municipal election.
Selected candidates will be required to manage the election process which includes greeting voters at their assigned voting stations, having strong organizational skills, asking questions of voters, assisting with the voting process, completing the required forms, and counting ballots at the end of the day. All election workers will work under the direction of the Returning Officer and Deputy Returning Officers, and will work with Town of Blackfalds Elections Staff.
Be 18 years of age or older
Attend a daytime election training session – approximately 3 hours
Be available to work ELECTION DAY, Monday October 16 2017.
Remain on-site for the duration of the election (9:30am to approximately 9:00pm ~or~ until such time as election results have been finalized)
Have above-average communication skills in the English language

The local Returning Officer and Deputy Returning Officers are appointed by Town Council. These roles are responsible for all matters pertaining to the local organization and operation of the 2017 Local Authorities Election, and for enforcement of provisions of the Local Authorities Election Act.
Candidate packages are available at the Town Office, 5018 Waghorn Street during regular business hours (Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm). Candidate Information and nomination forms are available online 24/7 for reference only.
