Family & Community Support Services

Please be advised that FCSS has moved!
You can now find us on the lower level of the Civic Cultural Centre at 5018 Waghorn St.

“Investing in people, our most valuable resource.”

The Town of Blackfalds' Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) FCSS offers support and services that include community programs and courses, community group support, Food Bank information, employment support, interagency meetings, subsidized programs, and information and referral services.

FCSS also provides preventative social programming and activities that use proactive, strength-based, and intentional strategies to help individuals, families and communities develop skills required to form a strong sense of self, resulting in the ability to build healthy relationships with others.

FCSS priorities are directed by the Social Needs Assessment Plan (2016), which includes substantial input from the members of our community.

FCSS Now Accepting Grant Applications

Blackfalds Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) Advisory Board will review grant applications at the Board's April 11, 2024, regular meeting. Each year, Blackfalds FCSS reviews applications for social preventative programming and recommends Town Council’s allocation of budgeted granting dollars to various groups and organizations in the community.

In past years, Blackfalds FCSS grant funding has supported a variety of projects in the community, including, but not limited to:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) In School Mentoring and Traditional Mentoring programs,
  • Social Emotional programming at Wolf Creek Public Schools and St Gregory the Great Catholic School,
  • Guest Speakers targeting resiliency, self-esteem, healthy relationships, empowerment, and other social prevention topics at all schools,
  • First Nations, Metis, Inuit programming and resources in schools,
  • Alcohol and Drug Awareness opportunities.

If you belong to a group or organization that supports and delivers programming whose primary focus is preventative social programming to build and enhance the social well-being of Blackfalds residents, and could benefit from grant funding, this opportunity to apply is for you.

Application forms must be completed and submitted no later than March 22, 2024, at 4:30 p.m.

For questions about your application, please get in touch with Blackfalds FCSS at 403.600.9066.

Please download the application form to get started!
